How to Adjust Reefer Container Air Conditioning System?

For reefer containers, the use of heat pump water chillers is necessary to regulate the temperature changes inside the container, in order to maintain a relatively normal temperature and provide good conditions for the subsequent transportation of food. So, how can we adjust the air conditioning system inside reefer containers to avoid problems such as condensation in the container?

Definition of reefer containers

Refrigerated containers are designed to transport frozen or chilled goods that require a certain temperature. They are divided into integral-type mechanical reefer containers with refrigeration units and external mechanical reefer containers without refrigeration units. They are suitable for loading meat, fruit and other goods. Refrigerated containers are expensive and have high operating costs. During use, attention should be paid to the technical status of the refrigeration unit and the temperature required for the goods inside the container.

How are the temperatures inside reefer containers regulated?

Currently, the most popular reefer containers regulate air flow and refrigeration water with variable frequency vortex compressors, in order to satisfy operational requirements at a low energy consumption level. During the entire process of adjusting the air conditioning system in reefer containers, it is not only the environmental temperature that needs to be considered, but also the humidity and specific temperature inside the container, which are then measured and input into a computer. Finally, the measured data is compared with the preset data and the deviation is calculated. Then, the corresponding mechanisms are used to adjust the temperature appropriately, so as to better control the temperature environment inside the container.

To prevent condensation inside reefer containers:

  • Attention should be paid to maintaining a normal temperature inside the container by enhancing the internal thermal resistance of the insulation wall and reducing the convective heat resistance of the container surface, thus improving the temperature of the container wall.

  • If the humidity inside the container is too high and the above method cannot prevent condensation, a waterproof layer can be added to the inner wall of the container to prevent water from penetrating the container wall.

Compared to general containers, there are many factors that may affect the transportation quality of reefer containers throughout the entire transportation process. Therefore, when choosing this type of container, in addition to paying attention to the relevant design of the container, it is also important to understand the temperature control and regulation of the container, in order to make the whole transportation process smoother.
